Need a First Aider in Your Workplace? Upskill Your Staff in September with these courses from First Rate Training

First Rate Training, a trusted provider of health and safety training has announced their latest course availability for September.  Located just minutes from both junctions 41 and 42 of the M4 in Baglan Bay Innovation Centre, they cover the whole of South and West Wales.

Who needs health and safety training?

There is no workplace that would not benefit from having a qualified first aider in the workplace – it means employers can ensure the safety and well-being of employees and visitors – workplace accidents and medical emergencies can happen at any time, and having a trained first aider on-site allows for immediate response, which can significantly reduce the severity of injuries and can save lives should a medical emergency occur.  However, it can also be a legal requirement depending on your business.

In the UK, the law governing first aid in the workplace is primarily outlined in the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. These regulations require employers to provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities, and personnel to ensure that employees receive immediate assistance if they are injured or become ill at work.

Here’s a summary of the key requirements:

1. Risk Assessment

2. First Aid Kits

3. Appointed Person

4. Trained First Aiders

5. First Aid Room

6. Information for Employees

7. Legal Compliance

Employers should regularly review their first aid needs and ensure that they are meeting all legal requirements. The specific needs will vary depending on the workplace, so the assessment should be thorough and regularly updated to reflect any changes in the workplace environment or workforce.

A first aider provides not only immediate care but also peace of mind for everyone in the workplace, knowing that help is readily available in case of an emergency.
