New charity shop opens in Denbigh as Welsh lockdown lifts
A new charity shop opened its doors on the High Street in Denbigh this month, all to raise funds for national disability charity, Sense. This has come as a welcome addition to the high street post lockdown and will play a part in bringing the community back together.
Denbigh is the fifth Sense charity shop to open in Wales as part of a national campaign with property Developer, Rob Lloyd and his company Bearmont Capital, setting up shops across the country in order to help raise vital funds for the disability charity
The Sense shop has opened as the high street comes back to life after the Welsh firebreak lockdown ended on 9 November. The shop is set to be integral part of the local community and an important part of the high street. It will provide a hub for local volunteers and regular customers, contributing to tackling loneliness, and playing an important role in safely bringing people together.
Sense has put into place strict measures to protect the health and safety of staff and customers, ahead of the opening. Safety measures include a 72-hour quarantine for all donated stock, which is also thoroughly cleaned. Protective screens are installed at the cash till, and only a limited number of customers will be permitted to come in at a time to ensure social distancing.
The Sense charity shop on High Street is now calling for generous locals to donate goods and volunteer in the store. The shop is selling a whole range of both new and donated goods, including a fantastic ladies wear section alongside men’s and kid’s clothing, accessories, books, media, household goods and furniture. All proceeds will go towards supporting people with complex disabilities, including those who are deafblind.
Sarah Walker, Sense Shop Manager for Denbigh, said:
“We are excited to have opened a new Sense shop in Denbigh, offering a wide range of great value goods to the community, with all sales helping Sense to support people with complex disabilities. We have a great team of volunteers to help run the shop but we’d love to welcome more. It’s a brilliant way to meet new people and learn new skills. We’d also like to appeal for donations from the local community.”
If you’d like to volunteer at the shop, or donate, please contact Shop Manager Sarah Walker, at denbigh@sense.org.uk or call 01745815846. If you have any unwanted items to donate, simply pop by the shop at 56 High Street, Denbigh, LL16 3LB.
