Carmarthenshire County Council is offering grants of up to £10,000 to help create and safeguard jobs and businesses in the county.

The council has launched two new funds as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting and growing Carmarthenshire’s local economy.

The Carmarthenshire Business Start Up Fund and Carmarthenshire Growth and Recovery Fund have just opened to applications.

The Carmarthenshire Business Start Up Fund supports the creation of new businesses that will specifically create new jobs.

The Business Growth and Recovery Fund supports existing local businesses and investors to become sustainable and grow, so that existing jobs are safeguarded and new jobs can be created. Business must be based in Carmarthenshire or

have secure plans to relocate to the county.

The funds can be accessed to support capital expenditure projects and specialist revenue expenditure, such as equipment, fixtures and fitting, IT hardware, specialist software and staff training.

The grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis, remaining open to applications until all funds have been fully allocated. Businesses will be expected to match fund any grant they receive.

The creation and stability of businesses and jobs in Carmarthenshire is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to supporting businesses and growing the local economy.

Leader of the council, Cllr Emlyn Dole, said: “We have a comprehensive economic recovery plan developed with the input of local business leaders to ensure we are offering every support possible to local businesses to regenerate and grow Carmarthenshire’s economy.

“We are pleased to be launching these two new funds to stimulate and stabilise new and existing local businesses with a focus on creating new jobs and safeguarding jobs that may be at risk due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic.

“Keeping Carmarthenshire businesses going and growing is a key priority of ours as a council and I urge business owners and those venturing into business to get in touch and hopefully take advantage of the funding we are offering.”
