New Year brings new opportunities in Presteigne
The New Year brings new opportunities for Mid Wales and borders residents as specialist autism school and home Summergil House continues to hire.
The Presteigne centre is on the lookout for new staff members to join its dedicated team of care workers at the school and residential home, which educates and cares for around 20 children with complex needs associated with autism at the 18-acre site.
Summergil is open to expanding its team with people who may not have previously worked in care, have been made redundant due to the pandemic or are looking to start the year afresh with a career change.
Eve Hodnett, Head of Education and Care, said: “It’s probably fair to say 2021 hasn’t started out as any of us would have planned it, but we have openings available to help anyone who is still keen to make the New Year one of opportunity and change achieve their goals.”
“The children we educate and care for have additional needs and that’s why working here is so rewarding. What seems like a small achievement to us can be a milestone to them, and to help them achieve that is just amazing. This is truly a great place to work as you get to make a difference to the children we care for every day.”
The school is run by Orbis Education and Care which also has 15 other schools, residential homes and facilities for children and adults with complex needs associated with autism in Wales. Orbis is appealing to those who may have found themselves unemployed due to Covid-19, former care workers and those looking for a new challenge, to come forward and take up care roles at its specialist facilities.
Andy Brown, Director at Orbis Education and Care, explained: “We have a dedicated staff team of around 800 people supporting the amazing children and adults within our care around Wales.
“They go over and above to educate and support our pupils and residents on a daily basis, but the outbreak of coronavirus means that some may have to stay at home to look after their own children or to self-isolate, hence the need for more to join our ranks.
“We have rewarding and fulfilling jobs on offer to those who would like to help shape the lives of the people we care for and educate. You will get to work with the best and most innovative autism care provider in the UK, and with a team which is second to none and has proven itself even further in the past few difficult months.”
Orbis is also offering a reward scheme for those recruited before the end of January. Successful candidates will be given a £100 shopping voucher for Love2Shop as a welcome gift.
