A Cardiff-based housebuilder has donated £250 to the ladies’ section of a Welsh football club.

Bellway Wales, which is building new homes at Greystone Meadows in Undy, has given the money to Undy Athletic FC, who play their home games in the village.

Undy Athletic FC Ladies team coach Mark Shaw said: “We’d like to thank Bellway Wales for their valuable support of a community football team.

“The money will be used for training equipment and to continue developing the club, which is a valuable asset for recreation in Undy.”

The football club has roots that go back to 1947. The club’s first team currently plays in the JD Cymru South.

Daniel Shone, Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, said: “We are building new homes at Greystone Meadows in Undy less than a mile from the football club, so we’re delighted to support the local team in this way.

“We’re not just about building homes at Bellway, we also like to contribute to the communities in which we’re building.”

Bellway is providing 144 new two, three and four-bedroom homes at Greystone Meadows.

The housebuilder is also contributing more than £1.3 million to the local community as part of the planning agreement for the development with Monmouthshire Council.

The contributions include £800,000 towards adult recreation/community facilities in the area, £200,000 towards the Magor railway station project, £175,000 towards local public transport and £175,000 for play areas.
