Residents who live, work or visit the Upper Garw Valley are being given the chance to help shape an environmental action plan for the area.

The plan, which is a joint project between Bridgend County Borough Council’s Rural Development Team and the Garw Valley Community Council, will broadly cover the area between Blaengarw and upper Pontycymer.

It aims to make the most of the natural assets that already exist, make improvements where they are needed and showcase the area as a visitor destination. It will be used to inform delivery over the next five years, providing a framework for grant funding, to deliver the actions outlined in the plan.

The Upper Garw Valley is an area of natural beauty, with good opportunities for walking and cycling, and for enjoying the incredible landscape and natural environment.

Residents are being asked to get involved to ensure the action plan accurately reflects their views and meets the needs of the Upper Garw Valley, particularly Blaengarw and Pontycymer.

The consultation is open until Monday 26 April – visit the Upper Garw Valley Environmental Action Plan survey webpage to take part.

An online workshop is also being held on Monday 26 April if you would like to discuss your views further. To join it, email c.evansconsultancy@gmail.com.

This project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities-Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
