South Wales Pupils share the magic of Christmas with McCarthy and Stone

The spirit of the season has arrived at McCarthy and Stone’s Fern Court Retirement Living development in Swansea and its Llys Isan Retirement Living Plus development in Llanishen, Cardiff, thanks to a special delivery from local primary school pupils.

A box full of Christmas cards handmade by Reception pupils at Parkland Primary School brought joy to Fern Court homeowners, whilst Year 6 pupils from Coed Glas Primary School shared their good tidings and festive messages with homeowners at Llys Isan.

Nicki Beswarick, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy and Stone Southern, said: “This year it was important for us to get creative and find new ways of bringing the community together, despite the challenges we’re all facing. The pupils at Parkland and Coed Glas Primary Schools have gone above and beyond to produce some incredible Christmas cards, which have truly brought some yuletide comfort and joy to homeowners at Fern Court and Llys Isan.

“Engagement with the communities in which we build is a key focus at McCarthy and Stone, never more so than throughout 2020 when we all might be feeling a little more isolated than before. We pride ourselves on creating a close-knit and supportive community, so we will continue to focus on innovative ways to forge these important connections until we can once again welcome everyone in person.”

The homeowners at both developments were thrilled to receive their cards, and as a thank-you sent a little festive treat for all of the children to enjoy.

Ayse Gunduz, Reception teacher at Parkland Primary School, commented: “All of our pupils really enjoyed making and writing their cards. It was certainly a great way to get us all into the Christmas spirit and help to foster relationships between the generations.”

Kevin Hart, Headteacher at Coed Glas Primary School, added: “This partnership really helped to spread a little festive cheer and the children were thrilled that the homeowners enjoyed their cards. We hope everyone has a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas.”

Llys Isan comprises a selection of one and two-bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 70 and over. The development features an on-site bistro, a homeowners’ lounge, which is ideal for socialising with friends and new neighbours, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax, and a hotel-style guest suite should friends or relatives wish to stay.

Comprising 45 one and two-bedroom apartments, Fern Court features a spacious homeowner lounge, landscaped gardens, and a convenient guest suite for when friends and family come to stay. A House Manager takes care of the smooth-running of the development; while a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points provide added peace-of-mind for homeowners.

Prices at Llys Isan currently start from £247,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and £352,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. At Fern Court, a one-bedroom apartment starts from £199,000 and from £287,000 for a two-bedroom. Rental and part-buy, part-rent options are also available at both developments.
