Two North Wales organisations have taken home top accolades at the 2023 CIPD Wales Awards, which celebrates HR and people development across Wales.

The CIPD Wales Awards returned to Cardiff’s City Hall with its fifth annual awards, marking the first gala ceremony since 2019 due to the pandemic.

Throughout Wales, thousands of people are employed in the people profession, with HR and leadership development covering all sectors and industries.

North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent (NMWTRA) – which is responsible for managing the road network on behalf of the Welsh Government and is headquartered in Parc Menai – was awarded Best Learning and Development / Organisation Development Initiative at the CIPD Wales Awards.

The judges commended the way the organisations overcame challenges of the diverse workforce and socioeconomic challenges, and the way it demonstrated the embedding of the initiative into the business with real success outputs.

Speaking of the award, Nia Meleri Edwards at North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent, said: “To be recognized for out learning and development initiative is amazing and it is as much for those taking part as it is those delivering it.”

Also scooping an accolade at the awards was Caernarfon-based Antur Waunfawr, a social enterprise providing employment and training opportunities for people with learning disabilities, which was highly commended in the Best Wellbeing Initiative category.

This year’s winners were selected by a judging panel of top HR and business professionals, including: director of HR & Corporate Services for Welsh Government, Peter Kennedy; UK HR director at Airbus Operations LTD, Nicola Montgomery; head of people at Admiral, Rhian Langham and managing director at Resolution at Work, Alison Love.

All our winners, those highly commended and finalists have proven they maximise the utmost potential and opportunities for their employees.”
