Quality Unearthed, the Pembrokeshire-based unusual accommodation and ‘glamping’ company has been nominated for a national award in London in March in the ‘Eco’ category.

The inaugural Shortyz – created by the website ShortTermRentalz – was launched towards the back end of 2019, with nominations for the event eventually closing at the end of January. Last week, STR editor Paul Stevens took to social media to herald the shortlist of nominees for the website’s first ever Award ceremony, and Quality Unearthed were delighted to find out that they had made it to the 6-company short list in the ‘Eco’ category.

Quality Unearthed started in 2011, and was built on the back of a deep love for the unusual and quirky type of stay that was being experienced first hand by the company founder, Tim Rees, who’s desire to marry his knowledge of the accommodation service sector, with the rise in glamping structures.

Fast-forward 9 years, and the company now runs over 250 unusual, unique and alternative structures in the UK – in Wales, England and Scotland – as well as France, and ranging from geo domes, yurts, hobbit houses, shepherds huts, offbeat cottages and treehouses. And at the heart of Quality Unearthed, runs a core set of values based on ‘eco-friendly’ principles.

A general need to educate and cultivate a greater emphasis on the environment and the surroundings of these structures was at the heart of the company’s inception.

“The company was principally set up to bring the experiences of living in unconventional structures to a wider range of people.” says Tim Rees, company founder,  “I started Quality Unearthed to fulfil a growing need for people to “go forward to nature” whilst retaining the all-important creature comforts.”

“We’re delighted that Quality Unearthed has been recognised for the #Shortyz as a leader in ‘eco-tourism’ which remains a key focus for the business, and which we feel has never been more important than it is in this day and age.”
