Photographs of Aberglasney Gardens through the seasons feature in new Exhibition

Nigel McCall with the exhibition in the Mansion house (002)

Beautiful, award-winning, photographs of Aberglasney Gardens through the seasons and over the past few years, are on display in a new Exhibition in Aberglasney’s Mansion House.

The photographs, taken by Nigel McCall, Aberglasney’s photographer, are on display in the Bay Window Room and the Main Hall of the Mansion House until March 2022.

Amongst the photographs are images which have won Nigel awards in the international Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) competition. With over 20,000 entries annually, it is one of the premier competitions for photographers. Nigel’s work has attracted several notable awards from IGPOTY including a first place in the Beautiful Gardens category earlier in 2021 with a photo of Aberglasney’s Upper Walled Garden.

Peter Burgess, Chairman of Aberglasney Gardens’ Board of Trustees, said, “We are very grateful to Nigel for all the time he puts in to visiting the Gardens and producing these amazing photographs. It’s thanks to Nigel that we’re blessed with a wealth of beautiful images of the Gardens throughout the seasons to share on social media, in this new exhibition and, hopefully, in a book which is set to be published in May 2022.”

Nigel McCall has been a volunteer and member of Aberglasney since 2014. He was the managing director of Towy Works Ltd in Carmarthen before he retired in 2019. Nigel has a great interest in photography and has spent many years documenting Aberglasney’s changing seasons with over 1,700 of the Gardens.

During the winter months Aberglasney gives each visitor the value of their admission fee back as a voucher to use at the Tearooms on the day of their visit. This offer lasts until 1 March 2022. There is no extra charge to enter the Mansion House when visiting the Gardens.
