Popham Kidney Support, the Swansea-based kidney charity with services extending across Wales, has received a grant from Make Some Noise, the official charity of Global, the media & entertainment group.

The charity was awarded a grant for £69,000, thanks to generous donations from the UK public and Global’s partners. The money will help support the amazing work it does with children, youths and adults with kidney disease in Wales.

The grant will provide children and young people with kidney disease in Wales access to a Transition Programme, supporting them in adjusting to the long-term impact of kidney disease on their future.

Joanne Popham, CEO of Popham Kidney Support, said:

“We are thrilled to have been awarded funding from Global’s Make Some Noise for the next two years. The funding is going to make such a difference to the lives of children and youths affected by kidney disease. Thank you to the listeners of Global radio stations, for their generosity.”

Popham Kidney Support is one of the 46 small charities which received a share of over £2.9 million in funding from Global’s Make Some Noise, for life-changing projects in local communities across the UK.

The funding will provide a vital lifeline in communities – supporting Global’s Make Some Noise continued vision that nobody in the UK should face life’s toughest challenges alone, tackling issues such as mental health, poverty and homelessness.

Every year, grants are awarded to small charities across the country to help fund the vital services they offer. Since its launch in 2014, Global’s Make Some Noise has supported 527 incredible local community projects and made a life changing difference to over 227,000 people across the UK.

Projects funded by Global’s Make Some Noise support crucial services – from food banks to befriending projects for the elderly and isolated, cancer wellbeing programmes to domestic abuse refuges, from employment opportunities to physical and speech therapy for people with disabilities.

Suzanne Ryder-Richardson, Director of Global Goodness at Global, said:

“This year, we’ve seen a record number of applications for our project grants, highlighting the increasing need for support for these crucial initiatives that serve as a lifeline to so many. We’re incredibly grateful that, thanks to public donations and the generous support of our partners, we can provide this funding to the small, local charities delivering these vital services at the heart of communities across the UK. We remain committed to raising funds and awareness so that we can support even more life-changing projects across the UK in the future.”

Global’s Make Some Noise also raises awareness of the wide range of issues its funding is tackling with over 29.2 million weekly listeners across Global’s radio brands including, Capital, Heart, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC, Radio X, Capital XTRA and Gold Radio.
