Porthcawl opticians appoints New Retail Director for Specsavers John Street Store

AN OPTICIANS in Porthcawl has appointed a new director with almost two decades of optical experience.

Louise Whiffin, a 38-year-old from Swansea, is the new retail director of Specsavers John Street store.

Mrs Whiffin has worked for Specsavers for 18 years, joining the Swansea store in 2005 where she worked her way up to manager.

Now stepping up to support optical director, Claire Edwards, she will focus on growing the business and ensuring the team is as well trained as possible. Also, she hopes to further improve the quality of service for customers and help the team to give back to the local community.

This comes as the store prepares to open a dual-purpose testing room which will offer both optical and audiology services.

Mrs Whiffin says: ‘I’m thrilled to be working with Claire and the team at the Porthcawl store to provide the best possible service we can to our local customers. We have got a lot of great plans for the store over the next year, and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve together.’

She adds: ‘We are proud to have a highly qualified team in store who have expertise in low vision, which means they can provide help to those suffering from certain eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or cataracts; higher certification glaucoma, meaning they can manage ocular hypertension and glaucoma suspect customers to keep them out of hospital; independent prescribing – which helps reduce the number of GP referrals – and so much more.’
