Qualifications Wales has announced it has received a Gold Standard FairPlay Employer award from Chwarae Teg.

The award demonstrates that Qualifications Wales is firmly committed to gender equality and diversity and has a clear determination to engage employees at all levels to provide opportunities for all.

Philip Blaker, Chief Executive, Qualifications Wales, said: “This is a big achievement and reflects the open culture we have nurtured among employees at Qualifications Wales. I am very proud that our commitment to gender equality and inclusion in the workplace has been recognised in this way.”

Qualifications Wales is only the second organisation to receive a Gold Standard FairPlay award.

The innovative FairPlay Employer programme benchmarks organisations against others in the same sector, determines key areas of success and those needing development. This is then followed by a journey of guided support and improvement, including a bespoke action plan and access to a range of resources and events.

Stephanie Griffiths, Commercial Director, Chwarae Teg, said: “Achieving a Gold FairPlay Employer award is incredibly tough and truly reflects the commitment Qualifications Wales has to gender equality. They have worked very hard to ensure a culture of diversity and inclusion is embedded throughout the organisation, and so I’m delighted they are receiving the recognition they deserve.”
Chwarae Teg is a charity working for a fairer Wales where women achieve and prosper across all sectors and at all levels in the economy; where women are visible and influential across all sectors of the economy, society and in public life; and where women are empowered to achieve their potential, regardless of their background, social status, or geographic location.
