Residents move into new housing development in Buckley
Flintshire residents have moved into 12 much-needed affordable homes on Princess Avenue in Buckley, provided by ClwydAlyn, a North Wales housing association.
New resident and mum of two, Hayley Andrews, was one of the first to move into the development and says the new home will have a massive impact on her family and successfully support her children who both have medical conditions.
Hayley said: “I’ve moved to a beautiful three-bed home with everything done for me and we now have a great garden, it’s unbelievable.”
The homes are part of ClwydAlyn’s longstanding commitment to providing more affordable homes across North Wales; all homes are built as lifetime homes and designed in such a way that they’re easily adaptable to the changing needs of residents, helping them live independently for longer.
Hayley said: “Moving into this house will make such a difference; I have been paying £300 a month for my gas and electricity, and when you’re on universal credit that’s a lot. With the solar panels and how well the house is insulated, it’s just amazing.”
The new homes at Princess Avenue have been built by Gareth Morris Construction (GMC) on behalf of ClwydAlyn, in partnership with Flintshire County Council and the Welsh Government. The homes include two three-bedroom houses and ten one and two-bedroom apartments.
Penny Storr, Head of Development and Growth at ClwydAlyn added: “We’re particularly proud of the Princess Avenue development as these homes are central to our long-term mission provide homes to improve our residents’ health and wellbeing.
“The homes have been built using innovative designs and complemented with a timber frame construction using natural and sustainable materials, all locally sourced where possible. Ultimately, by building lifetime homes.”
Local councillors and Flintshire County Council staff were shown around the site by representatives from ClwydAlyn, developers Gareth Morris Construction, and architects Ainsley Gommon.
Councillor Carolyn Preece said: “These properties are built using innovative designs, making them energy efficient and lowering energy bills for the new tenants. I was very impressed with the quality of these properties; they have been finished to a very high standard.”
