Rhug Estate hosts Organic Clothing Pop-up shop
Rhug Estate will host an organic and recycled clothing Pop-up Shop from 17 – 23 September in the Old Forge building on the Estate. Vinyl Bear are based in Flintshire and supply outdoor, active-wear, clothing.
Vinyl Bear was created in 2014 and where possible the company has always tried to keep their clothing as environmentally friendly as possible from using organic cotton and recycled polyester for their clothing to using plastic free packaging. Proceeds from some of the collections go towards local good causes for example from every sale of Anti-Litter clothing, £3.00 goes towards the Flintshire Litter Pickers to help buy pickers, bags etc.
Gareth Kirkham, creator of Vinyl Bear, said, “Being based in north Wales, it is no surprise that we are obsessed with the outdoors. Vinyl Bear believe being outside is not only great for your body but also your mental wellbeing and we hope our clothing collections keep customers nice and comfortable whilst on their adventures. We are excited to have our first pop up shop at Rhug Estate next week where we will be showcasing a variety from our anti-litter clothing range as well as clothing for various outdoor sports including cycling, running, climbing and paddle boarding.”
Lord Newborough, Owner of Rhug Estate, said, “The response to our first Pop Up shop with Casgliad was superb with our customers enjoying the added interest and range of products available on site. Many of those travelling along the A5 have been enjoying the mountains of north Wales and Gareth’s Mountains range of Organic Cotton T-Shirts are the perfect memento. We have been offering Organic produce for over 20 years and it’s great to see these standards starting to emerge in the fashion industry.”
Emma Story, Estate Manager said, “Markets appear slow in finding solutions to the planetary crisis we face today and the fashion industry has received some significant scrutiny. Gareth, however, is clearly at the fore when suitable materials and products become available and offers some great items. The Estate shares this pursuit of suitable materials. The farm shop, built a decade ago, is BREEAM accredited, meaning it achieves a very high standard of sustainability. We’ve also been rolling out ground-source and air-source heat-pumps to residential and commercial properties and we use wool to add external insulation to people’s homes and further improve energy efficiencies. So Rhug is very happy to be hosting a supplier like Vinyl Bear, who are an excellent example of a business finding ways to respond to these overwhelming problems.”
The Old Forge building is situated at the far end of Rhug Estate’s car park, near the entrance to the Drive Thru, and has been re-roofed and refreshed during lockdown to create a perfect space for rental. The estate is always keen to hear from local businesses looking for rental space. If you have an interest, please email: contact@rhug.co.uk or telephone: 01490 413 000.
