Rhyl Day Care Facility celebrates one year anniversary since refurbishment

April marks one year since Hafan Deg Day Care Facility in Rhyl went through refurbishment works and came back into the hands of the Council from an external provider. To celebrate, the centre hosted an event for residents to meet and reminisce about the previous year, and adorned Hafan Deg with banners and balloons.

The Day Centre, located in War Memorial Court, Grange Road, offers a wide a range of facilities and is a hub for many of the older people who live in its vicinity. It features a light and airy function room, equipped with board games, a pool table and a darts board. This area is available to book out, and there is also a bookable private meeting room situated towards the back of the building. The Centre currently operates 3 days per week as a day care centre where a range of activities take place for the people attending, and attendees receive a hot meal and hot refreshments.

A new reablement room has now been completed, which features a full suite that aims to replicate a home. The suite includes a disabled friendly ergonomic adjustable countertop and easy access oven, allowing people supported by the reablement team the chance to recover in easy and familiar surroundings.

Hafan Deg now offers a laundry service and has a bookable assisted bathroom service too, equipped with a fully operational overhead hoist, allowing users to bathe with dignity.

“The centre has been redone efficiently and very nicely, it is clear a lot of thought has gone into the refurbishment. The staff here are extremely accommodating to the residents.”

Ann Lloyd, Head of Adult Social Care & Homelessness Service said:

“In the past year, this centre has gone from strength to strength, with the feedback from the residents who attend being overwhelmingly positive. It was great to be able to celebrate along with many of the users of this facility.

We have worked closely with the residents who live nearby and use this facility to collaborate creatively on some of the refurbishment works and ensure the centre becomes a vibrant hub in the community.”
