In the run up to World Book Day, Rhyl Library are holding a fancy dress swap, where families can donate their pre-loved costumes and in return receive a voucher to exchange for a different costume.
During World Book Day, many schools encourage pupils to dress up as their favourite character from a book to help encourage them to engage with reading and celebrate what they are reading at home.
World Book Day is an annual celebration of reading, held on the 2nd of March this year. It is a worldwide celebration of books and reading and it is marked in over 100 countries around the globe.
Families can simply drop the preloved costumes off at Rhyl Library and in return a voucher will be given, allowing a swap for any other costume of their choosing.
All costumes must be dropped off by 15th February, and costumes must be clean and in good condition, and have the CE mark on them.
Families can visit the library on either Saturday 18th or Saturday 25th February from 9.30-12.30 to choose their new costume.

“We are looking at getting a variety of costumes exchanged, in anticipation of World Book Day next month. This is a chance for children and families to dress up as their favourite characters.”
Councillor Emrys Wynne, Lead Member for Welsh Language, Culture & Heritage said:
“This is a brilliant idea and allows all sorts of literary characters to come to life on National Book Day.
Spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can make a crucial difference to their future success.”
