Robert Price & Daikin Hold Launch Event for the New Sustainable Energy Centre
Created to showcase, inform and educate customers on sustainable building materials and construction solutions, the launch of the Robert Price Sustainable Energy Centre was a huge success in Newport, last month.
With almost 200 years of industry experience, the independent builders’ merchants, Robert Price, have teamed up with Daikin, world-leaders in heat pump manufacturing to launch the centre that is located in Robert Price’s Newport branch.
During the event, Robert Price and Daikin gave attendees a taste of their unique product offering, discussing how their sustainable solutions will help customers reduce their carbon footprint with the Welsh government committing to carbon net zero nationally, by 2050.
Newport City Councillor Yvonne Forsey, who is also the newly appointed Cabinet Member for Climate Change & Biodiversity for Newport City Council spoke at the event:
“Our Climate Change Plan and Local Area Energy Plan set out strong commitments to support our communities to reach net zero carbon by 2050, and we will be working to support households to become more sustainable and less dependent on fossil fuels.
“As a local authority we see the opening of this centre as a positive step towards this goal, as it will ultimately support our residents and installers through their retrofit journey.”
Other attendees at the centre launch event included the Mayor of Newport, Councillor Martyn Kellaway. Mayor Kellaway toured the showroom, learning all about the wide range of product solutions on display with the Robert Price Energy Team advisors, and later assisted with the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Visitors on the day were also entered into a prize draw to win some goodies, including tickets for Wales vs New Zealand at the Rugby Autumn Internationals and a meal for two at Michelin Star restaurant, the Walnut Tree.
Following the event, the centre aims to familiarise people with air source heat pump technology, with expert advice on the best heating and cooling solutions.
It will also house a heat pump training centre to help the region’s plumbing and heating installers to diversify into renewable heating solutions, as fossil fuel boilers soon become a thing of the past.
“We can’t wait to see more customers, both new and existing, visit us and experience everything the Sustainable Energy Centre has to offer.
“The launch event was a huge success and we’re delighted to support local tradespeople adopt more sustainable practices for the future”, said Molly Pike, Robert Price Marketing Director.
