Runners get on their marks to celebrate Wales at the St. David’s Day Run 2020

Wales’ operatic and GoCompare star, Wynne Evans, will be firing the start gun for the refreshed St. David’s Day Run, which celebrates all things Welsh.

The race is now being organised by the team behind the highly successful Invcnbl race series and is all about making running fun and encouraging all abilities to get involved. The run will include a fancy-dress option and will take in some of Cardiff’s historic sites on 1 March 2020.

Invncbl founder, Adam Jones said:

“We’re thrilled to have the St Davids Day race as part of the Invncbl family. It’s one of the first major races of the year, and our aim is to encourage as many people as possible to become active.

“With all the benefits on your physical and mental health, our race is the perfect opportunity for people to get out, shake off the winter blues and take in the wonderful scenery of Bute Park, situated in the heart of Cardiff.”

Invncbl have teamed up with Kidney Wales, the nation’s leading kidney health charity, as the charity partner for the race.

The run, which is one of the first in the race calendar, will start in Bute Park and includes a 2km family fun run, a 5km and a 10km race; giving runners three separate races to raise funds for their chosen charity or Kidney Wales, they could also just choose to run. Cardiff Arms Choir will also be on hand during the race to get everyone in the mood.

This is the first St. David’s Day Run for Kidney Wales, and the race takes its place among other established races such as Llanelli Half and the Cardiff 5k, as well as the charity’s flagship Cardiff 10k race, as a fundraising opportunity.

Nic Clarke, Director of Operations and Fundraising for Kidney Wales added:

“We are delighted to be part of what is set to be a brilliant St. David’s Day Run next year. It’s a race where everybody can get involved, all ages and all running abilities, what’s important is that it is fun.

“We hope that runners will look to fundraise on behalf of Kidney Wales for the race, as every donation we receive enables us to continue to support patients dealing with kidney disease, their families and fund research projects with the aim of improving kidney health in Wales in the long term.”

The run starts at 10am with the start in Bute Park with the 2km family fun run kicking off the event, culminating in the 10km race which will include the capital’s iconic landmarks, including Cardiff Castle.
