New study by Park Holidays has looked at 20 locations outside of the UK’s main cities where couples can go to rest and relax. The study looks into numerous metrics, such as romantic places to dine, activities commonly associated with dating spots, and of course, most picturesque spots (according to social media) to reveal the best locations for a romantic getaway in the UK.

Newquay, Cornwall revealed as the best location for a romantic getaway in the UK
Newquay, Cornwall is the UK’s most romantic getaway, with no shortage of ways to spend quality time together. Newquay scores highly across the board in Park Holiday’s index, with cinema and bowling options, a great variety of 4*+ romantic restaurants available (31) and of course, it sits on the coast making it a great location for a romantic walk on the beach. The famed Newquay beach is known for its beautiful white sand and emerald-blue water, perfect for a lazy day spent in the sun.
Anglesey ranks in second place for romantic UK getaways, and top for the most picturesque romantic destination in the UK
Anglesey was the UK’s most picturesque location in Park Holiday’s study, with over 600,000 hashtags on Instagram alone. It’s got plenty more to offer than romantic photo opportunities, however, with a reputation as a top culinary destination for lovers of Welsh delicacies (30 restaurants in Anglesey score 4*+ on TripAdvisor). Anglesey is also a great destination for those who love a romantic coastal walk and exploring hidden coves.
Chichester in Sussex comes third for most romantic getaways in the UK
Park Holidays’ data analysis sees Chichester take third place for the UK’s most romantic getaways. Its mix of romantic dining options and couple-friendly activities make it a fun and lively destination to spend a romantic weekend away. It comes in as the third most picturesque spot, and it’s easy to see why—the town is adorned with fabulous architecture and unique historic attractions.
Lowestoft and Whitstable rank in the top five locations in the UK for a romantic getaway
Lowestoft in Suffolk was identified as the fourth most romantic holiday destination in the UK. Its large sandy beach provides a wonderful picnic destination and a relaxed afternoon all-in-all, while a range of romantic sightseeing opportunities are great for couples that love to explore.
Whitestable, Kent comes in fifth for most romantic getaway in the UK according to Park Holidays. Known for its delicious oysters and ranked third for its romantic dining options, it’s a great option for food-loving couples. And with a population of just over 30,000, this seaside town is the perfect laid-back quiet destination to relax and unwind with someone special.
