This week’s ONS figures have shown that companies added 184,000 people to their payrolls between November and December, and although any boost to employment figures is good news, this surge can be partly attributed to the traditional increase in seasonal employment in the run up to Christmas.

Between them, ASDA, Tesco, Amazon, Sainsburys and Marks & Spencer took on 84,000 seasonal staff and there is a strong possibility that by the time the next ONS employment figures are released, we will see that unemployment rate creeping back up again.

For many of those seasonal workers who are going into the New Year unemployed after a frantic few months of work, rising prices and financial pressures mean finding a secure job with long-term prospects is likely to be front of mind. South Wales-based Ludlow Street Healthcare, which runs Beechwood College in Sully, St Peter’s Hospital in Newport and community homes across south Wales, is urging anyone currently weighing up their options to consider a switch to a career in healthcare, where Ludlow Street promises free training and thorough mentoring to successful applicants.

Ludlow Street Healthcare specialises in providing care for adults over the age of 18 with complex mental health problems, autism, learning disabilities, and neuropsychiatric conditions including dementia and acquired brain injuries and staff who work for them can be proud that they really make a difference to the lives of service users.

As well as offering staff competitive industry salaries, Ludlow Street Healthcare also runs a highly regarded ongoing staff training programme and prides itself on the career progression opportunities available to staff, even those without experience or qualifications.

Sarah House, Operations Director at Ludlow Street Healthcare said, “One of the main advantages of beginning a career in healthcare is that there are roles available which don’t necessarily require years of experience. It’s not uncommon for people to start work with us at entry level and to progress into management. The opportunities are there for people who are willing to work hard.

“Almost 15% of our staff have been with the company for over a decade, which is testament to the importance we place on our staff wellbeing and the way that they are treated.”

Roles currently available include support workers, learning support assistants and medical secretaries. The full list of job vacancies can be found on Ludlow Street Healthcare’s website www.lshealthcare.co.uk/careers
