South Wales business boosts workforce by more than a quarter over past 12 months
With over 3,000 sites to maintain, tidy and keep safe for local residents and businesses across South Wales, Countrywide Grounds Maintenance®, the UK’s leading professional grounds maintenance contractor, has increased its workforce by more than a quarter in a year, to ensure it delivers a first-class service all year round.
Launched over 22 years ago, Countrywide South Wales has taken on its 80th employee, of which over 90% are client facing roles offering services ranging from grass cutting, shrubbery and gutter clearance to landscaping and line marking.
Headquartered at Port Talbot, Countrywide South Wales has 25 teams operating from six different locations – Baglan Energy Park (the main depot), Haverfordwest, Carmarthen, Cardiff, Newport and Merthyr Tydfil – and they work across a diverse number of sectors, including healthcare, education, facilities management, utilities, retail and housing associations.
In addition to carrying out grounds and maintenance during the peak season (April to October), Countrywide also offers associated services including winter gritting, landscaping and planting, tree work, fencing and artificial grass. It is also a key supporter of the local economy with all employees living locally and fostering strong community relationships for the improvement of local environments and regular clean-up days, such as litter and plastic collections.
Ian Michael and Richard Ball, Regional Managers of Countrywide South Wales, said:
“When we started the business over 22 years ago, we never imagined growing to the size we are today – hiring our 80th employee and looking after 3,000+ sites. Our employees are our most important asset so it is essential to invest in their development to not only ensure longer tenure, but to create a positive work environment and culture.
“We pride ourselves on being a local business and being able to provide a boost to the local economy, as well as minimising our carbon footprint and limiting both transport costs and downtime. The future is really exciting we are looking forward to continuing to deliver safe, well-maintained and attractive environments for our clients.”
