South Wales housebuilder extends support for Armed Forces personnel
Today (11 November), Barratt Developments South Wales has announced the extension of its Armed Forces Deposit Contribution — offering military service men and women 5% towards their purchase of a Barratt Homes or David Wilson Homes property.
The scheme — launched over ten years ago — offers all UK Armed Forces personnel who are currently employed by the Army, Navy or RAF a contribution of up to £15,000. For example, on the purchase of a £200,000 property, they would qualify for a contribution of £10,000.
To mark the occasion, Barratt Developments has displayed flags of remembrance at its Wyedean Fields and Parc Fferm Wen developments — both in proximity to Armed Forces bases.
Personnel who have recently retired from the Armed Forces also remain eligible for the contribution up to 12 months from their retirement date.
What’s more, Barratt Developments also offers an Armed Forces Transition Programme — designed specifically for ex-Armed Forces personnel who wish to become a qualified Assistant Site Manager.
Chris Robinson, Trainee Assistant Site Manager at Brunel Quarter said: “I’m currently eight months into my career with Barratt Developments South Wales, and the knowledge and skills I’ve gained so far are second to none.
“Not only do they offer a high-quality training programme and working environment, but their commitment to the Armed Forces and its personnel is visible across the company — from its charitable partnership with RBLI, to the display of Remembrance Day flags and poppies across developments.”
David Thomas, Chief Executive of Barratt Developments PLC said: “At Barratt, we are incredibly proud of the work we do with the Armed Forces community, from our Armed Forces Transition Programme to our partnership with veteran support charities, Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) and the Tommy Club.
“To date, we have had more than 100 people join Barratt through our Armed Forces Transition scheme, and currently hold The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold award — the highest commitment to the Armed Forces a business can make.”
