South Wales housebuilder raises over £23k for Marie Curie with charity golf day

Barratt Developments South Wales has today (August 23) announced a total of £23,132 raised for its Charity of the Year, Marie Curie — thanks to the housebuilder’s annual charity golf day at Radyr Golf Club.

The event saw nineteen teams — made up of the South Wales division’s team, subcontractors and suppliers — take part in fundraising activities, including a golf simulator challenge run by Marie Curie, a raffle and an auction.

The fundraising activity itself raised an impressive total of £11,556, which the housebuilder then fund-matched via the Barratt Foundation — giving a total donation of over £23k to Marie Curie.

Victoria Hardy, Senior Community Fundraiser at Marie Curie, said: “The money raised at events like these will go a long way towards helping us continue to support people with a terminal illness, and their loved ones, at end of life. We look forward to attending more events like this throughout the year, to raise awareness of our work.”

David Kelland, Operations Director for Barratt Developments South Wales, added: “Year on year, the fundraising efforts of everyone involved in the charity golf day surpass our expectations — raising awareness and important funds for worthy causes, just like Marie Curie.

“We therefore want to thank everyone who attended the golf day — from within our own team and beyond — for their generosity and continued support.”
