South Wales’ largest independent Builders’ Merchant continues expansion with acquisition of local, family-run Builder’s Merchant

The LBS Group is delighted to announce the acquisition of Denman & Sons, a building materials supplier in Caerphilly.

Established in 1986, Denman & Sons has historically traded from two branches, servicing Caerphilly, Blackwood, Newport and Cardiff. In April 2024, LBS takes over the Pengam branch and is delighted to retain all staff across both sites, creating new and exciting career growth and opportunities.

Founded in 1931, The LBS Group is a proud, Welsh business that continues to grow across South Wales, now consisting of ten brands and a total of fifty-one branches:

• 19 LBS Builders Merchant Branches;
• 16 Total Plumbing Centres;
• 9 LBS Kitchen & Bathroom Showrooms;
• Civils and Drainage dedicated business;
• Roofing Supplies Specialist (with two more hubs underway)
• Talbot Timber: a timber and roof truss supplier and manufacturer;
• LBS Home & Garden Centre;
• Renewables Centre;
• UK Build;
• DG Heath.

As of April 2024, The LBS Group employs over 500 local, expert staff and has a fleet of over 200 vehicles. The Company is proud to offer its customers with access to all ten brands under one account, access to local, reputable and expert staff, offer same or next day delivery and hold £15m of stock across 16,000 product lines.

The acquisition of Denman & Sons represents another significant investment for the family-owned company. LBS has a strong history of delivering building products across South Wales, and the addition of Denman & Sons allows the group to add to its merchant network in a key strategic area of the country.
