Sponsored Heritage Walk for Hospice returns after Two Year Pause
A POPULAR Heritage Walk set against the backdrop of the stunning Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is set to put a spring in the step of participants this April.
The Sponsored World Heritage Walk for Nightingale House Hospice is returning to raise vital funds for those with life-limiting illnesses, and has been kindly sponsored by Pat’s Coaches of Wrexham.
The 13 mile walk, will take place on Sunday 10 April and starts from the Chainbridge Hotel in Llangollen and takes in the breath-taking landscape of the Dee Valley, the iconic UNESCO site of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Chirk Aqueduct, Trevor Basin and the Chirk Tunnel.
As well as raising much-needed funds for the hospice this is a great opportunity for individuals, groups, and families, including children and dogs, to take part in a walk which stretches between Wales and England, taking in three counties of Denbighshire, Wrexham and Shropshire. The route is suitable for pushchairs. In previous years the event has raised over £10k for patient care and family support services. This year, it will cost £4,041,617 to run Nightingale House.
All participants must be able to walk the full 13 miles. Each person taking part in the walk must register (including children).
Registration is free but walkers are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as they possibly can.
Fundraiser, Sam Amis said: “I am excited to see the return of the World Heritage Walk. The event has always been popular amongst our supports and we believe that this year, after not hosting major events like this for the past two years there will be lots of eager walkers keen to get out in the fresh air, enjoy the scenery whilst raising funds for the hospice.”
Mark Davies from Pat’s Coaches said: “We are delighted to be supporting Nightingale House Hospice and helping transport walkers to the start of the walk in Llangollen. The hospice is such an important facility in our area, providing care for those with life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families at the same time.”
On the day itself walkers will be expected to register at 9am at the Lion Quays in Chirk, before a free shuttle bus, provided by Pats Coaches transports walkers to the Chainbridge hotel, Llangollen where the walk begins.
