Swansea Building Society reinforces community support with a £3,000 donation to local foodbanks
In a true demonstration of community commitment, Swansea Building Society has declared a charitable gesture by contributing £3,000 to eight South Wales foodbanks. The selected beneficiaries, such as Crosshands Foodbank, Cegin Hedyn Community Kitchen, Sketty Foodbank, Neath Foodbank, Splice Child and Family Project, Need to Feed, Pontypridd Foodbank, and the BLT Food Hub, will each be granted a minimum of £250.
The decision to contribute to these essential community resources reflects the Society’s deep concern for the ongoing cost of living crisis, impacting many of its customers. Swansea Building Society recognises the challenges faced by individuals and families in the South Wales area and aims to make a positive impact by providing support where it is most needed.
The donations are over and above Swansea Building Society’s centenary celebrations throughout 2023, where the institution has given away a £100,000 fund pot to support local charities. This initiative aligns with the society’s longstanding commitment to giving back to the community and enhancing the well-being of its residents.
In addition to the £100,000 fund pot, Swansea Building Society has also made significant contributions to its official charity, Maggie’s Swansea, donating £32,000 over the past two years. The society remains dedicated to supporting various charitable causes in the years to come, as part of its centenary legacy.
As Swansea Building Society comes to the end of its centenary year, these contributions underscore its ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families in South Wales.
Alun Williams, CEO of Swansea Building Society, said:
“We are proud to stand by our communities during these challenging times and contribute to the well-being of our neighbours. The cost-of-living crisis has presented hardships for many, and Swansea Building Society is committed to making a positive impact where it matters most. Our donations to local foodbanks underscore our belief in the strength of community support, and we hope these contributions provide essential assistance to those in need. As we finalise the celebrations of our centenary year, these donations exemplify our ongoing dedication to creating a lasting and positive legacy in South Wales.”
