A former employee of Jeff White Motors, the headline sponsor of City Hospice’s Forever Flowers this year, is supporting the campaign in memory of his wife Catherine.

Richard Jones’ working relationship and friendship with Jeff White Motors began after he purchased a used car at the dealership. He went on to produce graphics, advertising and marketing materials for the business for over 30 years.

Upon learning about Catherine’s pancreatic cancer diagnosis and how City Hospice cared for her and the Jones family during such a difficult chapter in their lives, Jeff White, owner of Jeff White Motors, pledged to support the charity’s important Forever Flowers campaign as headline sponsor.

Forever Flowers provides the public with an opportunity to unite and remember cherished family members, friends and loved ones. A unique and lasting tribute, supporters are invited to purchase a limited-edition flower which will feature in a striking display at Cardiff Castle from Saturday July 30 to Sunday August 14.

Richard Jones said: “The care Catherine received from City Hospice was second to none. From the specialist doctors to her support team, she received such wonderful care from everyone at City Hospice during her illness. Angels don’t have wings and live in the clouds, they do however wear nurses’ uniforms and work tirelessly to support families like mine.”

The Forever Flowers campaign and this year’s choice of a sunflower is close to Richard’s heart as Catherine, a keen gardener, decided to grow some sunflowers from seed last year.

Richard said: “The majority of the flowers grew to over 10ft tall. It was magical seeing them follow the sun throughout the day and, if there was no sun, they would turn to face each other for comfort.

“The Forever Flowers campaign is a wonderful way for anyone who has lost a loved one or someone they cherished and be a part of the magical display that’s taking place. It has given me the opportunity to talk about my grief, reflect and remember Catherine, the love of my life, with a lasting tribute.”

Forever Flowers can be purchased by visiting cityhospice.org.uk/forever-flowers/ and cost £25 per flower. Participating Timpson stores for engraving are St Mary Street, Cardiff and Culverhouse Cross.
