The first thing people do when they move into a new home in Cardiff — the answer may surprise you!
In celebration of National Tea Day (21 April), Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Wales has revealed the first thing that 19% of new homeowners in Cardiff do upon receiving the keys to their new home… Make a cup of tea or coffee!
According to a recent survey* conducted by the local housebuilder, a cuppa is the first thing on the agenda ― closely followed by getting the bed made up (13%), opening a bottle of something to celebrate (13%) and ordering a takeaway (11%).
What’s more, each new home comes with a welcome pack containing both teabags and biscuits ― allowing homeowners to get settled in as soon as they walk through the door.
Richard Lawson, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Wales said: “Receiving the keys to a new home is one of the key milestones in people’s lives ― and so we’ve loved hearing how our new homeowners like to enjoy their first moments in their dream home.
“To make those first few hours as stress-free as possible, we advise our customers to take care when packing ― by clearly labelling items as they’re placed in boxes. That way, they’ll be able to find the kettle and get it boiling as quickly as possible ― or unpack the bedding, bottle of bubbly or cutlery as the case may be!”
On the building site however, the homebuilder found that 53% of Barratt builders actually prefer coffee over the traditional tea ― which came in at 39%. And just 2% of respondents opted for a fruit or herbal tea as their cuppa of choice.
