The Most Beautiful Areas to Live in the UK

Caernarfon Castle in Wales in a beautiful summer day, United Kingdom

Many regions in Wales offer spectacular scenery – and if your home is surrounded by beauty, then the quality of your life will be vastly improved. You’ll not only be able to enjoy the scenery in your day-to-day life, but you’ll also have an investment that will hold its value over time. Your mental and physical health will likely improve, too, since you’ll be able to take a pleasant stroll through nature whenever you like.

Some places in the UK stand out as particularly beautiful. Let’s assess a few of them.

Lake District

The Lake District is crammed with incredible twisting hillsides, beautiful hiking trails to suit walkers of every level, and, of course, plenty of lakes. It’s a popular destination during the summer, and so those who pick up a holiday home here can often make a return on the investment while the weather is warm.

There are plenty of newly built homes in Cumbria, near the North East, which means that you’ll have options if you want somewhere within easy reach of the Lakes.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a city that’s unlike any other in the UK. It’s small enough that you can walk from one side of the centre to the other in a single afternoon, and it’s packed with gorgeous historic structures, cobblestone streets, and amazing vantage points. At the centre of the city is the famous Edinburgh Castle, which sits atop an extinct volcano.

For those who live in the city, it’s the culture and more generalised architectural beauty that will make the bigger difference. There are plenty of parks, and very few ugly buildings.

Cornwall

The Southwest is perhaps best known for its coastline. You can lounge on a Cornish beach during the summer, soaking up the sunshine. There are also fantastic hiking opportunities, and plenty of watersports on offer, too. The breeze coming in from the Atlantic makes this a very popular destination for surfers.

Of course, residents of Cornwall also tend to benefit from the food and drink. Cornwall’s coastline is replete with amazing restaurants, and local staples like the pasty have an appeal that’s difficult to overlook.

Caernarfon, North Wales

While the whole of Wales is beautiful, this little Welsh seaside town overlooks Anglesey, and is the site of a spectacular castle, a Roman church, and a series of wonderful pubs and cafes. It’s also within easy reach of Snowdonia, which makes it ideal for those looking to go for a wander through the mountainsides.

It’s difficult to overstate the spectacle delivered by Caernarfon Castle, however. Constructed over forty-seven years, at a cost of £25,000 (which is about twenty-eight million in today’s money), this is a sight that will inspire and astound. If you’re lucky enough to live in the vicinity, it’ll do so on a regular basis.
