Tirion strengthens its community commitment with new appointment
Tirion, the community development organisation behind The Mill in Cardiff and Royal Victoria Court in Newport, has appointed its first neighbourhood manager to further strengthen its commitment to creating dynamic communities, where residents can thrive.
Lisa Jameson-Crook joined the business in October, where she will be the primary contact for prospective, new and existing residents across the Cardiff and Newport communities, providing advice and support, especially in terms of ensuring greater tenancy sustainment.
Tirion, through its partnership with Lovell UK, has built more than 400 affordable homes that provide lifetime tenancies for those seeking a new start, which sit alongside over 500 open market homes. Lisa will be working to bring the communities together and ensure the needs of all residents are met.
She said of her appointment, “Tirion’s values and priorities align with my own and from experience, I know that properties are not just about bricks and mortar. It’s about providing affordable, sustainable and future proof housing – it makes such a positive difference to our communities and those who live within it. Being part of something that will allow our communities to thrive with confidence and improve their life chances is a privilege.
“I believe everyone has the right to a safe and secure place that they can call home. If I can help play a small part in achieving this for people, it is a job well done. To be in a position of seeing a property become a home for individuals and families, particularly when you know that it will be life changing for them and their families, is priceless. I am proud to be part of it.”
As neighbourhood manager, Lisa will be the first point of contact and will build relationships with our residents. Lisa will also undertake inspections, including complaints of anti-social behaviour and in collaboration with other agencies when required.
Tirion, as a landlord and developer, is working to create community spaces to be proud of, and through Lisa this will be enhanced so that services are monitored, grown and/or improved.
Mark Howells, group housing director for Tirion added, “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Lisa to Tirion. Her passion, knowledge and experience will be an asset to what we are trying to achieve across our Cardiff and Newport communities. Our residents are at the heart of everything that we do and being able to bring Lisa into the team means that we can continue to do this.
“As neighbourhood manager, she will help us to manage our homes from handover, and every step of their residency, while ensuring that residents receive an excellent service in all of their experiences with Tirion.”
Across the Cardiff and Newport communities, Tirion provides homes to more than 500 tenants, which includes 10 armed forces veterans, who have been offered a new start through Tirion’s collaboration with the Welsh Veterans Partnership.
This number is set to expand as Tirion completes its final phase of 158 affordable homes at The Mill in Cardiff in Spring 2024, alongside a further 234 homes at Royal Victoria Court in Newport, with the final phase handing over in 2025.
