Wales is famous for many things. It has a rich culture, lovely countryside, stunning rugged coastline, gorgeous national parks, and some of the UK’s most beautiful beaches. But many people may not be aware that Wales has a wealth of dog-friendly walks, from the north coast to the east and into the mainland. If you’re wondering where to take your dog for a walk, here are the top dog walking destinations in Wales.

Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire is one of the most scenic areas in Wales. The stunning Wales Coast Path runs along the entire length of the Carmarthenshire coastline, and walking along its coast is fun, especially with your furry friends. Carmarthenshire has walks suitable for all ages and abilities, including dog-friendly trails.

Expect spectacular views during your walk in Carmarthenshire, from lush pine forests to gorgeous beaches and salt marshes. One of the highlights is the section along Pembrey Country Park, with its conifer forest taking you into the dunes of Cefn Sidan Beach.

When you arrive at the area close to Llanelli, you’ll reach the wide and flat path of the Millennium Coastal trail, perfect for buggies and strollers. It will take you around Burry estuary, lapped by gorgeous beaches with a beautiful nature reserve nearby.

Pembrokeshire

What’s great about a walking holiday in Wales is you’ll find plenty of accommodation options, perfect for spending several nights and discovering some of the dog-friendly attractions in Wales. Make the most of your outdoor adventure by sleeping at a glamping site in Pembrokeshire. You will find some excellent glamping accommodations here, and many of these properties allow dogs on their premises, offering the perfect base for those looking to extend their stay.

You’ll find plenty of excellent dog-friendly walking trails in Pembrokeshire. Visit the north, and you’ll find the panoramic Preseli Hills and Mountains trail. The uphill walk will reward you with gorgeous views of nature, especially when you reach the summit. While it’s not the tallest of peaks, you will be in awe of the beautiful views waiting to greet you.

Brecon Beacons

The Brecon Beacons National Park offers endless picturesque trails you and your furry companions can explore. In fact, it’s one of the UK’s top dog-friendly destinations, with plenty of open area and numerous spaces for fun-filled days with your four-legged friends. Your walk will take you past lovely streams for your pets to paddle in and many other scenic spots for you and your pet to stop for a break and enjoy some snacks before heading off for the trail.

The only downside to walking your dog in the Brecon Beacons is deciding which trail to take since you have so many options, all offering breathtaking views. If you only have time for one, choose the Allt yr Esgair Circular Trail. It’s a popular trail with lots of surprises along the way. The long and pleasant path will start at Bwlch, taking you towards the beautiful countryside with views of the Black Mountains.
