COLEG CAMBRIA’S Deeside Sixth Form Centre is celebrating a raft of successful A Level results.

Among those to achieve top grades were the site’s Student of the Year Rebecca Jones, who secured three As in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

She will now study Chemical Engineering and is weighing up her university options.

“I have always been interested in Sciences and Engineering and am delighted to be moving forward with positive A Level results,” said the 18 year-old, from Ellesmere Port.

“I hope to work in the pharmaceuticals industry in the future and would like to thank Cambria for their guidance and support over the years – I’ve loved every minute”.

Meanwhile, friends Luke Evans and Heath Kavanagh are both off to Durham University this September.

Former Argoed High School pupil Luke, from Mynydd Isa, received A*s Maths, Further Maths and Physics and completed the Welsh Baccalaureate (Skills Challenge) certificate.

The 17-year old – who turns 18 tomorrow (Friday) – will now study Maths at the university and plans to move into Theoretical Physics and a career in finance.

Heath, 18, from Ellesmere Port, will study Computer Science after gaining A*s in Maths and Further Maths and a As in the Welsh Baccalaureate and Computer Science.

Amelia Humble, 18, from Buckley, was on cloud nine after achieving A*s in Maths, Psychology and Biology, and will go on to study Business Management at the University of Leeds, and Rhyl-based Keziah Hendive, 18, will begin a degree in Child Nursing at King’s College London following her grades – As in Psychology and Biology, and a B in Maths. Both also completed their Welsh Baccalaureate certificates.

Congratulations also goes to Erin Roberts, 18, from Caerwys, a former Ysgol Glan Clwyd pupil who now begins a five-year Veterinary Medicine course, first at Aberystwyth University, then the Royal Veterinary College, London.

After achieving As in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology, she said: “I am thrilled to get the grades I needed, the dream now is to enjoy my time at university then go on to work in veterinary science, that’s what I’ve always wanted to do.

“I’ve had a lot of support from Cambria, especially putting together my application and personal statement, and my family are all so excited – they’re even more excited than me!

“Thanks to everyone at the college, it’s been an amazing experience.”

Head of Deeside Sixth Miriam Riddell added: “Following such a challenging time for the students to receive such positive results is heartening. They’ve worked so hard, and we are very, very proud of them all.”
