Tourism Group Supports Local Community at Mayoral Charity Concert

COMMUNITY spirits were higher than ever as local talent was celebrated at a newly refurbished and well-known venue.

Lyons Nant Hall, in Prestatyn, played host to a charity concert in aid of North Wales Superkids and the special education department of Prestatyn High School.

Margaret Williams MBE, founder of local charity Superkids which aims to alleviate the struggles of children from families living on the breadline, said the event was a “splendid display of local talent.”

She said: “This year has been the most difficult one we’ve had as a charity. We’ve had to put fundraising on hold for the past 18 months, so to get together at Lyons Nant Hall and host an evening like this is just wonderful.”

Beth Hughes, PR Executive for Lyons Holiday Parks said: “This was an incredible opportunity for us here at Lyons Nant Hall to get back to what we love – supporting local charities and building the community up again after an unthinkable year. It was also wonderful for us to see our brand-new function room full of smiling faces and people mingling again, and to hear the room alive with the sound of music and laughter was the finishing touch we all needed to this wonderful summer of normality.

“Lyons Holiday Parks partnered with North Wales Superkids last Christmas, and we’re incredibly proud to be able to continue to support this local charity. We will continue working alongside Margaret this winter with her Toybox Appeal, as well as offering a free holiday to a family in need at our popular Lyons Robin Hood Park in Rhyl.”

Entertainment for the 60 or so guests, including Prestatyn Town Councillor Tony Flynn who helped organise the event, ranged from a touching performance by pupils from North Wales School of Dancing to a crowd-pleasing set from local artist Chloe Hopkins, as well as a special saxophone act by her father and celebrated musician, Dave Sax.

Cllr Flynn said: “It’s so great to see this showcase of local talent, and to see everyone working together for the communal good. North Wales School of Dancing haven’t been able to perform as much during the pandemic, and they’re only just in the process of starting up again. For them just to come along and support us is fabulous, and everyone has been so generous with the raffle prizes.

“Chloe Hopkins is fabulous, and Dave Sax is Mr Entertainment himself – all the acts we know and love and it’s a wonderful pool of local talent. This local, central venue is perfect, and everyone has commented on the new function room saying how perfect it is for community events. The one thing that we like in Prestatyn is a place that has everything, such as this, where there’s a bar, toilets, and plenty of room in one space that could be hired out. I’d like to thank the people of Prestatyn who were there to support us, Lyons Nant Hall for their cooperation and support, and those who kindly offered a prize for the raffle.”

Lyons Nant Hall is a Grade II listed building on the outskirts of Prestatyn, and Lyons Holiday Parks wish to highlight that the room may be used for community, charity, or any other ventures in the future. The group are also celebrating the recent refurbishment of 10 hotel rooms at Lyons Nant Hall, aiming to go live in November, which after almost four years of planning and graft, will hopefully bring even more tourism and interest into the North Wales area.
