Valentine’s Day Inspiration – Stay & Dine in Mid Wales
If St Dwynwen’s Day passed you by, it’s not too late to make Valentine’s Day one to remember this year. MWT Cymru | Mid Wales Tourism has put together the following round-up for inspiration.

Do something different this Valentine’s Day and treat your loved one to a delicious dinner in Gregynog’s Music Room. Chefs have created a special menu for Valentine’s evening diners.
Choose from Welsh rump of lamb, baked salmon fillet or goat’s cheese squash and mushroom pithivier all served with seasonal vegetables. For dessert, there’s sour cherry brownies and lemon posset.
Dinner costs £37.50 per person and includes a glass of prosecco on arrival and coffee and tea to follow. You can also select from a wine list to accompany your meal.

Choose from a variety of dishes on a special Valentine’s Day menu, two or three courses including chicken supreme in a red wine and wild mushroom sauce with crushed new potatoes and tender stem broccoli, or fillet of pork served with fondant potato, green vegetables and a rich port jus.
If you have a sweet tooth, there’s a host of desserts – chocolate orange brownie, lemon posset, crème patisserie filled profiteroles served with a raspberry sauce and more.
Three courses are £45 per person or add a glass of prosecco for £50. Two courses cost £40 per person or £45 with a glass of prosecco. You can even add a red rose for your guest to complete your evening.
Rooms are available if you wish to extend your stay, including a romantic suite consisting of a four-poster bed and a jacuzzi for two.

Chartists 1770 at The Trewythen is serving a Valentine’s Menu on February 14 including Sammy’s miso butter with toasted sourdough, leek and laverbread mosaic, Rosie’s cottage pie, National Chef of Wales 2024 lamb, and more. £65 per person with a wine flight option available.

Notably, Commis chefs Gabbi Wilson and Rosie Koffer, workmates at Chartists 1770 at The Trewythen, Llanidloes, are the first winners of the Green Chef Challenge, sponsored by Compass Cymru.
The pair both won gold medals for Gabbi’s three-course vegetarian menu with judges scoring their dishes at 90 per cent or over. The dishes are now on the Chartists 1770 menu.
Also in Llanidloes, a special Valentine’s event this year: Coco Live is hosting a Valentine’s Chocolate Truffles Workshop on Saturday, February 10 from 10.30am – 12.30pm. Make your own chocolate creations to either eat yourself or gift to a loved one, all at the company’s factory on Parc Derwen Fawr.
Make three sets of chocolate truffle flavours, decorated beautifully and packaged ready for you to take home. Lots of opportunities for tasting on the day too!
