Vaping and Travel: A Guide to Vaping Laws and Regulations Around the World

Vaping is relatively new, and as a result, global regulations are continuing to rapidly evolve. For a while, vaping was pretty much a legal grey area in most places, but it’s now subject to a wide range of laws similar to those that regulate smoking.

In some countries, such as the UK, you can generally vape where you can smoke. In others, however, such as Thailand, vaping is totally outlawed, and you can face severe legal repercussions if you even bring a vape into the country. It’s important to be aware of global regulations if you’re travelling and vaping – let’s take a dive into the subject.

Research each country before going

Before going to a country and bringing a vape with you from Elux Legend 3500 Disposable, make sure to do plenty of research to familiarise yourself with the laws and customs. Try not to go off of just blog posts like this – laws change all the time, and it’s best to go straight to the government website.

If there’s any ambiguity, it might be safer not to take your vape with you. If you really depend on it, however, then it might be best to reach out to the embassy or consulate to ask for their advice on the matter.

Complete bans

As mentioned earlier on, while vaping is slightly restricted in most places, meaning you can’t vape in public areas for example, in other locations it’s totally banned. Countries such as Thailand, Brazil, and India all have bans in place, with the severity of breaking those bans differing from place to place.

You’ll likely be able to find anecdotal evidence of people getting away with it in a lot of these countries, but whether you want to risk it based on these experiences is another matter.

Nuanced restrictions

In many places, it won’t be black and white. You may be able to vape in your house or in a park, but not in a square. Or you may be able to vape in one town, but not in a city that’s just a few miles away.

It’s important to be aware of these nuances – you can ask the locals for advice, and do research that’s specific to the location you’re in.

Packing vapes

If you’re travelling with a vaping device and vape juices, then make sure that you pack them correctly. You’ll generally need to put e-liquids in zip lock bags in your hold luggage, while you’ll need to pack the battery pack in your carry-on luggage.

This should be the case with most airports, as it generally isn’t the airline that checks your baggage. Still, it’s best to check with the specific regulations in each location that you’re flying from and to.

In addition to the laws of each country, you also need to be sensitive to the local social customs. It’s not nice to stick out for the wrong reasons – even if vaping in public spaces is technically legal, if it’s going to offend the local people around you, it’s best to wait until you’re in a respectable location.
