Welsh decorators still count on a bacon butty and a cup of tea to make their day
Hard working painters and decorators in Wales have revealed they are most likely to wind-down by making time for self-care.
Back massages, manicures and facials were popular luxuries – with nearly one in five Welsh painters and decorators naming them as the best way to relax if money were no object.
Two fifths said they’d most like to be able to afford the time and money for a weekend away or a spa break.
And surprisingly, over one in ten (12 per cent) said they enjoy their craft so much they would like to spend a day off decorating their own home!
When it comes to improving their day-to-day life, a survey commissioned by Dulux Decorator Centre found that Wales expert decorators value life’s little luxuries too, with over a quarter (29 per cent) claiming finding the time in their busy day for a break and a simple cup of tea would make their work day better.
The top ten things hard working decorators value are:
- Quality products
- Access to a large range of stock
- A decisive customer
- A good music playlist
- Someone to help clear up at the end of the day
- A nearby stockist
- Getting everything you need from one place
- Bacon sandwich to start the day
- Sustainable products
- Click and collect in store for orders
One in ten said they are most likely to relax having a long bath after a long day at work – while nearly a quarter enjoyed dinner in front of the TV after a long day at work (22 per cent).
Easing decorators through their workday nearly a third (31 per cent) said an early finish would top their list of requests – while one in five (23 per cent) said a good music playlist would help.
A fifth (21 per cent) said a bacon sandwich would make their day and nearly one in ten (9 per cent) of professionals in Wales said a chippy lunch would play a big role in their dream work day.
The research, carried out by Dulux Decorator Centre to support its Centred On You campaign, polled decorating professionals across the UK to find out what factors would make their ideal working day.
Delving into the minds of painting and decorating professionals in Wales, it showed 45 per cent put reliance on well-priced products over good quality paints (41 per cent).
Nearly a third (29 per cent) said they found a large range of stock useful – opting for getting everything they need for the job in one place (16 per cent) and choosing sustainable products (13 per cent) as the best way to get the job done.
