A Welsh Director of Nursing from Cygnet Group has been named as a finalist at this year’s Nursing Times Workforce Summit Awards.

The company is a leading provider of services for individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism. It runs a Cygnet Health Care and a Cygnet Social Care division.

Its Director of Nursing, David Wilmott, has been shortlisted as Manager of the Year which recognises the skilled and dedicated managers who lead teams and enable nursing and other clinical staff to provide high-quality care. The award will recognise a manager who has a big impact on staff wellbeing and fosters teams that feel valued.

Following the announcement that he had been named a finalist David said: “I am really delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for this award.

“I have always tried to ensure that my leadership style is grounded in my core values and that compassionate leadership is at the very heart of my approach, and with this style ensuring that our staff and teams feel valued and empowered and provide the very best in high quality care that they can.”

David joined Cygnet Health Care in 2018 from the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. A Registered Nurse for more than 20 years, David has worked across a number of services including acute and mental health.

The winners Nursing Times Workforce Summit Awards will be announced at a special event at the Hilton London Metropole on Tuesday 21st November.
