Bridgend County Borough Council is offering residents who sign up to the garden waste collection scheme before 1 March a chance to win one of 100 free subscriptions.

The 2021 scheme, which is provided by the council’s waste partners, Kier, will take place between 15 March and 12 November.

Once Kier have randomly selected the 100 winners from all those who sign up online before 1 March, they will contact them to offer a refund on their payment.

Householders are provided with two robust sacks in which they can store typical garden waste, such as grass and hedge clippings, plants, flowers, weeds and leaves, and are advised of what day the collections will take place.

The sacks are then picked up and emptied from the kerbside by Kier every two weeks.

Deputy Leader, Cllr Hywel Williams said: “With more than 3,000 households already signed up to the scheme, the garden waste collection service continues to grow year upon year.

“The service offers a convenient way to have green waste picked up from outside your property, while the subscription charge which funds the service means that only homes who wish to use the scheme can opt to do so.

“Garden waste can also be recycled free of charge at your nearest community recycling centre. For more details, please visit the council website.”
