Working Wales and EE celebrate successful apprenticeship recruitment event in Merthyr Tydfil

Working Wales, in partnership with EE, held a successful recruitment event at the Merthyr Tydfil Careers Wales centre, providing individuals with an exciting opportunity to kickstart their careers through apprenticeships.
The event, held on Thursday, 9 January 2025, attracted 32 attendees who learned about EE’s apprenticeship roles, received employability support, and explored opportunities to kickstart their careers.
A total of 19 participants applied for the advertised apprenticeship roles and attended interviews with EE. To date, 6 participants have successfully secured apprenticeships, with applications still open for additional candidates. Additionally, more than a third of attendees engaged with Working Wales services by arranging follow-up appointments for further career support.
Connor Price, Recruiter at EE, said: “A huge thanks to Working Wales for all their support to get these sessions setup. We’ve already offered several apprenticeships to people in the local area thanks to these brilliant sessions and we hope to offer more as job applications still remain open.”
Peter Hopkins, Working Wales team manager at Careers Wales, added: “This event demonstrates the value of collaboration between Careers Wales and leading employers like EE.
“We’re thrilled to see so many attendees take advantage of this opportunity, with many already securing apprenticeships or receiving guidance to achieve their career goals.”
Working Wales is delivered by Careers Wales and funded by the Welsh Government to provide careers guidance and employability support to those aged 16 and above.
