Wrexham Farm walk to showcase conservation initiatives
An invitational day at a farm is set to highlight the theme of integration of conservation within a commercial farming enterprise.
FWAG Cymru together with the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)have arranged a farm walk at Cefn-y-fedw, Pen-y-bryn, Pen-y-cae, Wrexham, thanks to the kind permission of the Roberts family. The event will take place on September 11 at 2pm.
The farm is a beef and sheep enterprise, with the family having recently invested in infrastructure to maximise organic manure use. Rotational grazing is practised on the agriculturally improved land with the habitats managed sensitively.
A network of hedges and individual trees form the boundaries of the majority of the fields. Many hedges have been restored while in the Glastir scheme and also via AONB grants.
Light refreshments will be provided and the walk will take in uneven ground so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
