Cardiff and Swansea retirement communities say thank you to local keyworkers this Easter
This past year has been one of the most challenging we have all ever had to face. However, new research from McCarthy Stone has shown that 74% of the over-65s are now optimistic about the post-pandemic future thanks to the continued Covid-19 vaccination roll-out[1].
As restrictions begin to ease, 68% also said that after receiving the full vaccine they have the confidence in seeing friends and family again[1]. And as thoughts turn to the future, the homeowners at Fern Court Retirement Living development in Swansea and Llys Isan Retirement Living Plus development in Llanishen have said a huge “thank you” to all the local keyworkers who have been working hard to keep everyone safe and connected during these difficult times.
The McCarthy Stone team made a special Easter delivery to keyworkers at Sketty and Killay Surgery and North Cardiff Medical Centre on behalf of all the homeowners at Fern Court and Llys Isan, which was full of Easter eggs and handwritten cards offering personal messages of thanks.
Rosemary Grimaldi, Estate Manager at Llys Isan, comments: “These past few lockdown periods have certainly been challenging for all of us. We have such a fantastic community here at Llys Isan and we didn’t want to lose that spirit, so we have worked hard to make sure everyone has felt supported, connected, and happy throughout this difficult time.
“All the homeowners here at Llys Isan are really grateful to the local keyworkers, particularly for working so hard to roll-out the Covid-19 vaccination. It’s definitely put them at ease, as well as brought a huge sense of relief to the community.
“Now that restrictions are loosening, we’re all looking forward to re-starting some of the social activities with the homeowners, such as coffee mornings and armchair exercise classes. Hopefully we can get back to some kind of normality by the summer.”
Nicki Beswarick, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, commented: “The keyworkers across Swansea and Cardiff have gone above and beyond, and continue to do so, to ensure the local community receive their vaccination. With nearly three quarters of over-65s now feeling optimistic about the future[1], the vaccine has certainly brought hope and comfort to our homeowners and their families.
“It’s really important that we find ways to connect with our community, despite the challenges we are all currently facing, so we thought it was only right to thank our local keyworkers with a special delivery to try and spread some happiness this Easter.”
