Cardiff local wins photography competition
Cardiff resident, Tiffany Lacey, is celebrating after being selected as the winner of McCarthy Stone’s recent photography competition.
Run by the leading manager and developer of retirement communities behind the Llys Isan development in Llanishen, the competition called for local residents to share photographs of their favourite scenery, wildlife and landscapes in Cardiff and the surrounding areas taken on their daily walks during lockdown.
The competition was judged by the Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Rod McKerlich, who chose Tiffany’s photograph entitled ‘Reflections in Cardiff Bay’, as the winning entry. The photograph will be displayed in the homeowners’ lounge at Llys Isan for all to see.
Tiffany, who was awarded £100 for being chosen as a winner in the competition, says: “I moved to Cardiff just over two years ago and I feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place with a diverse mix of leafy green spaces and iconic buildings. The restrictions over the last year have given me the opportunity to explore the local area – and always with my camera in hand!
“I took the winning photograph on a crisp, sunny January day in Cardiff. There was hardly a ripple on the water and the Bay was looking particularly stunning, it made for the perfect shot and I am delighted that the Mayor of Cardiff felt the same. I am really looking forward to visiting Llys Isan to see my photo in situ.”
The Mayor of Cardiff, comments: “The standard of all the entries was phenomenal and is a real testament to the talented amateur photographers around Cardiff; I certainly had a tough decision to make!
“I chose Tiffany’s image as the winner because I felt it captured the magnificent scenery that we are all lucky to enjoy in Cardiff, and the reflections she captured in the Bay were quite spectacular. I look forward to seeing it in place at Llys Isan when we are able to.”
Nicki Beswarick, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, comments: “All of the entries we received were brilliant, and I’d like to offer our congratulations to Tiffany for winning the competition. We have so many stunning views in and around Cardiff, and Tiffany’s image really captured the lovely reflections in Cardiff Bay.
“Although current restrictions mean that we haven’t been able to officially unveil the image in our homeowners’ lounge just yet, we look forward to welcoming Tiffany to see it for herself once we can safely open the doors to Llys Isan.”
