The Winter Child

Craig Parkinson, otherwise known as Dot from the BBCs hit series Line of Duty is set to play the lead in the Channel 5 drama – Winter Child. Alongside him will be Shirley Henderson (of Harry Potter, Moaning Myrtle). The story follows a lonely single mother named Claudia (played by Henderson) who becomes deeply implicated in a local missing child case, Emily Winter. Parkinson’s character ‘George’ works alongside Claudia as a teacher at the local school. This one has a great cast and is touted to be an engrossing watch.

 

Gentleman Jack : S2

Suranne Jones has been all over the television recently. She rose to prominence as Karen McDonald on Coronation Street in the early 2000s and has gone on to play DCI Amy Silver in hit show Vigil and Anne Lister in Gentleman Jack. We’re ready for season two of the unconventional period drama which will see Suranne’s character of Lister embark on ambitious plans to make her mark on the world outside of Halifax alongside her partner, Ann Walker (played by Sophie Rundle) . This series has a mid April release date.

 

Marriage

This BBC drama sees a married couple played by Sean Bean (Ian) & Nicola Walker (Emma) negotiate a turbulent marriage. Their partnership faces common issues rooted in insecurities, ambiguities and fears and explores the balance of the perceivable positives of persevering with a long term relationship. Release date TBC, via BBC One and the iPlayer.

 

Inside Man

This one has been pencilled in for a mid 2022 release date via BBC One and associated iPlayer online streaming platform. The show will follow some very different yet somehow intertwined stories, with a focus on a UK based vicar, a prisoner on death row in USA & a maths teacher who finds themself trapped in a cellar. The part of the vicar is played by familiar face David Tennant with It’s a Sin’s Lydia West and Stanley Tucci also featuring.

 

Everything I Know About Love

Based upon the bestselling book written by Dolly Alderton, this story will also be a BBC release. The story follows the recreated fiction story of Maggie & Birdie, two young women who are also best friends. They plan to spread their wings by moving to London together but plans are scuppered when Birdy enters into a relationship with a newfound boyfriend. This tale is an exploration of friendship, growth and all facets of young loving relationships.

 

The Control Room

This Glasgow based thriller shadows the story of Gabe (played by Iain De Caestecker) who works as a call handler for the Ambulance Service of Strathclyde. His life is apparently turned upside down when he receives a call which hits particularly close to home. The caller claims to know Gabe, and he is set with a race against time to discover how…
