Bellway starts work on second phase of homes at development in Lisvane

Bellway Wales has started construction work on phase two of a housing development in Lisvane, near Cardiff.

The housebuilder is delivering a total of 270 new homes at Longwood Grange, off Maerdy Lane in the village.

The developer is building 64 new homes in the first phase with 36 of the 49 private homes for sale now completed and the keys handed over to their new owners. All 15 affordable homes available for local people through low-cost rent or to purchase at a discount to market value have also been built and are occupied.

On phase two the housebuilder is set to deliver a total of 206 new homes, with 167 for private sale and 39 allocated as affordable housing.

Lewis Gater, Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, said: “Construction is progressing well at Longwood Grange and it is great to be able to start construction work on the second phase of the build, which will deliver further new homes on the site. This is a very popular development and all but two of the private homes in the first phase have already been sold. We expect this high level of demand to continue into phase two.

“In total, we are building a selection of more than 200 two, three, four and five-bedrooms homes to help meet the requirements of the private market locally. In addition, Bellway Wales is delivering a total of 54 affordable homes on the site to allow local people, who can’t afford to buy their own property on the open market, to secure a new home.

“Twelve of the affordable homes are being offered as reduced market value properties and are being sold at 70 per cent of their market value. These homes are a mix of two and three-bedroom houses which are ideal for young couples and families who might struggle to buy on the private market. Two reduced market value homes – a pair of two-bedroom houses – have already been snapped up.”

Longwood Grange will form part of the wider 1,000-home Churchlands development which is taking shape on land between Lisvane and Pontprennau.

Lewis said: “The majority of buyers have so far been local people and a real mix of young professional couples, families and people wanting to stay in the area but downsizing to reduce their commitments and to make life a bit easier. Purchasers are being attracted by the development’s location in Lisvane, which is fast becoming one of the most popular places to live in Cardiff.

“In the second phase, we are delivering a wide choice of properties which includes three-storey town houses that really tick the boxes for growing families and people needing to work from home. This is an increasingly popular home design which offers practical and flexible layouts that can be adapted to suit changing lifestyles and needs.

“A house with three floors rather than two provides greater privacy for parents and teenage children and for friends and relatives who stay the night. More people are working from home these days and the extra storey allows bedrooms to be utilised as office space or even a gym or games room.”

There’s currently a choice of three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Longwood Grange, with prices starting from £399,995 and £499,995 respectively.
