FREE 12 WEEK TRAINING PLANS RELEASED AS 2022 WIZZ AIR CARDIFF HALF NEARS A SELL OUT!

Ever dreamt about taking part in Wales’ largest mass participation event but don’t know where to start? With 12 weeks to go until the return of the Wizz Air Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 2 October, event organisers Run 4 Wales (R4W) have released a series of free training plans designed to get you in shape to complete 13.1 miles this autumn – whatever your ability.

It comes as R4W reveal there are now less than 1,000 general entries remaining, with the race expected to sell out in just matter of days.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced plans are available, packed full of expert advice about training as well as a detailed 12-week programme to take you right up to race day. Whether you took up jogging during lockdown, are returning to the sport after a break or run regularly and are looking to beat your personal best – there’s a plan suitable for every type of runner.

Once general entries sell out, the only route to secure a space on the start line will be via one of the race’s official charities, including Lead Charity Partner NSPCC and Associate Charity Partners Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, Mind, Shelter Cymru and Prostate Cancer UK.

Demand has been high with many keen to return to mass participation events for the first time since the pandemic or looking to challenge themselves to complete one of the Europe’s most iconic distance events after taking up running during lockdown.

The race, which has been elevated on the world stage because of its new partnership with Wizz Air and inclusion in the new launched SuperHalfs Series, will also welcome a record number of runners from overseas and outside Wales this year.

The SuperHalfs Series is offering running enthusiasts the unique opportunity to embark on their own running adventure and earn a SuperMedal for completing a five-race circuit. It includes races in Lisbon, Prague, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Valencia.
