Flintshire firm a finalist in UK Micro Business Awards
Two North Wales entrepreneurs will be beaming from ear to ear as they walk their dogs this week having made the finals of the UK Micro Business Awards in the Start-Up Star category.
Lauren Jones and Rachel Southern, co-founders of dog friendly travel website, Dog Friendly Destinations, are one of three finalists in the 2021 awards that celebrate the UK’s small businesses and their inspiring owners. The grand final will be held virtually in November.
Lauren said: “It’s a complete shock and a huge honour to reach the finals of the Micro Business Awards. Rachel and I are both delighted to be amongst such great company and be recognised as Start-Up Star. Win or lose, we’re thrilled. It’s great to be recognised for our efforts over the past 12 months.
“It’s been a tough year for the travel industry but restrictions eased, we’ve seen a surge in people looking for dog friendly getaways. We’re continually hunting down more and more holiday properties for the website as there are more dog owners looking for UK staycations than we have places available for them. It’s keeping us very busy and we couldn’t be happier.”
It’s been a remarkable year for the Flintshire-based dog-loving duo, from launching their website in the midst of a pandemic to growing a 25,000 strong audience of discerning dog owners on social media and helping thousands each month to find places to stay, eat and go with their four-legged friends.
