The lovely, historic town of Rhayader, on the banks of the River Wye with a wonderful pram and pet friendly riverside walk, has all the amenities you need including a handful of pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes.

There are a few tourist attractions here too such as Dolmynach Victorian House Museum and the only Toll House to survive the Rebecca Riots. The vibrant town of Llanidloes has the River Severn running through it and has fantastic walks such as the Severn Way and Glyndwr’s Way giving you great opportunities to explore the splendid countryside here. Llanidloes has all amenities too but it’s also worth visiting to see the fascinating historical buildings such as The Old Market Hall. Elan Valley and its dams and reservoirs are sights not to be missed with unspoiled views in every direction. Discover wildlife, walking and cycling paths or spend some time fishing in the reservoirs or the river. Another great place to visit in this area is The Red Kite Feeding Centre, and a little further afield, the medieval Powis Castle and Garden is certainly worth the hour long drive.
