Twin Town Cast Reunite for La Cha Cha World Preview at Parc y Scarlets

Parc y Scarlets played host to film-making legend Keith Allen and many of the stars of cult classic film Twin Town last night for the World Premiere of Allen’s latest film La Cha Cha.

Made in the middle of lockdown and filmed entirely on iPhones, It is testimony to Allen’s reputation and the original film’s success that the actors, (including Rhys & Llyr Ifans and Dougray Scott), and the crew, took no fee for their role in the film, which is set on a Gower campsite for the elderly.

We won’t give any plot spoilers, but La Cha Cha is definitely worth a watch, and the strong performance by leading lady Ruby Ashbourne-Serkis and her on-screen romance with Liam Hourican is both heartwarming and believable.

The film features many Welsh faces including Melanie Walters (Gwen from Gavin & Stacey) and there is plenty of the irreverent, madcap humour that Allen is known for, with cameos from Pat and Phil Bennett, James Hook, Alun Wyn Jones, Ken Owens and Scott Quinnell.

Our guest reporter, Alex Blower, caught up with some of the stars on the red carpet:

While it’s not a sequel, it contained enough nods to Twin Town to ensure plenty of laughs, and is ultimately a sweet, mad comedy that kept us laughing all the way to the end.

On general release from 17 September, it’s definitely worth a watch.
