Changes to Bridgend’s local mobile testing arrangements

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has confirmed the latest arrangements for mobile coronavirus testing facilities in Bridgend County Borough.

A new walk-through testing centre opened on Saturday 29 May in the car park of Coleg Cymunedol Y Dderwen, Heol Yr Ysgol, Tondu, CF32 9EG. It is open from 9am to 6pm and there is no need to book.

The testing centre at the site of the former Revlon / Cosi factory in Maesteg closed on Friday 28 May.

Meanwhile a walk-through testing facility remains in place at the Bowls Hall car park off Bridgend Life Centre (Angel Street, Bridgend CF31 4AH). The facility is available 2pm-8pm, seven days a week, and booking is essential.

A walk-in mobile testing facility continues to be available at the Awel-Y-Mor Community Centre in Hutchwns Terrace, Porthcawl (CF36 5TP) between 9am and 6pm daily, with no appointment needed.

To arrange an appointment for any of the testing facilities above which require booking, visit the Welsh Government website or call 119. People with hearing or speech difficulties can book an appointment by calling 18001119.

The Leader, Cllr Huw David said: “Anyone who develops a new, continuous cough, a high temperature or a change to their sense of smell or taste is urged to book a test immediately.

“We know cases of the Indian variant are rising in Wales and it’s vital to remain alert and keep to all necessary measures such as washing hands, social distancing and wearing face coverings where required to minimise the risk of transmission.”

Social Distancing Reminder as Weather improves for Bank Holiday

Meanwhile, the council issued a social distancing reminder over the bank holiday weekend.

The Leader, Cllr Huw David said: “As temperatures start to warm up over the coming days and people make the most of being outdoors, we’re asking everyone to continue to ensure they maintain social distancing and to be mindful of the local communities which attract high numbers of visitors.

“Now is not the time for complacency and we urge everyone to remain alert and to follow all guidance which includes washing hands and wearing a face covering where required.”
